Maap Flos : Erwan Bouroullec’s wall of light

Maap does more than illuminate a wall: it transforms it. Designed by Erwan Bouroullec for Flos, this new wall lamp unfolds as a vast white membrane, as light as paper, emitting a soft and enveloping glow.

Its secret lies as much in technology as in gesture. Held by four magnetic points around the LED sources, the ultra-light fibre diffuser is crumpled by hand during installation. Each Maap therefore takes on a singular relief, somewhere between a cloud, a landscape and a luminous sculpture.

Available in three sizes, Maap can extend beyond three metres in its largest configuration. The precision of its structure disappears behind an organic, almost unpredictable form — exactly the kind of contrast Erwan Bouroullec likes to explore.

A radical yet poetic object, capable of changing the atmosphere of a room before one even notices the lamp itself.
