The cherry blossoms are a magnificent sight to behold in Switzerland.

Every spring, as temperatures warm and nature awakens from its winter slumber, cherry trees are adorned with magnificent pink and white blossoms, creating an enchanting landscape across the country. If you’re looking for the best places to admire this springtime splendor, here are a few must-see places to explore.

The Lake Constance region

The Lake Constance region, straddling Switzerland, Germany and Austria, is famous for its magnificent cherry orchards. Picturesque villages such as Stein am Rhein and Ermatingen offer spectacular views of cherry-blossom-covered hills, with the magnificent Lake Constance as a backdrop.

The Rhine Valley

The Rhine Valley, in the canton of Schaffhausen, is another ideal place to admire cherry blossom. Walks along the Rhine offer breathtaking views of the cherry orchards that line the river’s banks. Don’t miss the small town of Stein am Rhein, where half-timbered houses blend harmoniously with cherry blossom.

The Basel region

The Basel region also abounds in magnificent cherry blossoms in spring. Walks along the Rhine and in the surrounding countryside offer spectacular views of the cherry orchards that dot the landscape. Don’t miss the villages of Pratteln and Augst. Here, you can soak up the beauty of the cherry blossoms while learning about the history of the region.

The canton of Zürich

cThe rolling hills of Canton Zürich are dotted with cherry orchards, which offer a breathtaking spectacle in spring. Lake Pfäffikon and the Knonaueramt region are particularly famous for their cherry blossoms. They offer visitors panoramic views of the hills covered in pink and white blossoms.

The Lake Thun region

The picturesque Lake Thun region in the canton of Berne is another not-to-be-missed place to admire cherry blossom. Walks along the shores of the lake offer breathtaking views of cherry blossom orchards, with the majestic mountains of the Swiss Alps in the background.

Geneva

The city’s parks and gardens are decked out in splendid cherry blossom. They offer residents and visitors alike an unforgettable springtime experience. Don’t miss the spectacular cherry tree overlooking the Parc des Bastions, or those on the Terrasse Agrippa d’Aubigné in the old town.

Lausanne

The shores of Lake Geneva are a magnificent sight in spring. Cherry blossom is reflected in the calm waters of the lake as you pass through the Olympic Museum Park. A must-see for Japanese trees!

Martigny

Every year, the town is on the starting blocks for the blossoming of the 50 Japanese cherry trees lining the Rue des Morasses. Cultural activities are often organized to make the most of the blossoming trees. For more information, contact the tourism office.
