We celebrate Valentine’s Day at home

Because there are a thousand and one ways to say “I love you”, this year we show imagination and we offer ourselves a “home-made” Valentine’s Day evening. So, gift ideas, meals, atmosphere, in this period when love must triumph, follow our advice so that this February 14th is synonymous with romance and shared memories.

The meal

You have two options: to have a chef’s meal delivered to your home and pretend that “yes, yes, you’ve been there all day …” or to start cooking. For this second option, we recommend that you opt for a light but refined meal. For example, offer a carrot velouté with coconut milk as a starter, followed by a truffle or saffron risotto or a salmon tartar with coriander and celery. And since it’s not every day on February 14th, make a sensation and add a touch of chic to your table with a top-of-the-range water. We are very fond of spring water from the Mövenpick Alps. Flat or sparkling, the choice is yours!
On the alcohol side, champagne is the perfect accompaniment to this meal. We select it on openbar.ch and have it delivered directly to our place. The plus? For each order of a bottle of champagne, a tree is planted. Practical and responsible, all you have to do is put it in the fridge!
For the sweet touch, why not surprise with little madeleines to slip into heart moulds? Evocative… Or simply fall in love with the dark chocolate tea “Des amours”. A sweetness with jasmine and exotic fruit aromas to be found at Betjeman & Barton in Carouge. Ideal to end a meal on a gourmet note…

The Atmosphere

Far from us the idea of completely redecorating your interior, it is sometimes enough little to create a soothing atmosphere. To do so, we forget bright lights, we flee the darkness and we opt for a subdued atmosphere thanks to some light garlands and candles with refined scents to sensitize our olfactory senses. We fell in love with the red leather candle from the Swiss house Mizensir, with its woody scent and raspberry scent. To perfect this atmosphere, we choose an adapted musical playlist (if you lack inspiration, direction Deezer and Spotify).
On the table art side, the trend is towards authentic sobriety, with sand and cream tones, warmed by natural materials such as wood and ceramics.

The gifts

This year choose quality over quantity and fill your half with essentials. Since you have time to spend at home, offer a beautiful themed book like The Big Book of Chic by interior designer Miles Redd published by Assouline or a best seller. Our favorite: “L’anomalie” by Hervé Le Tellier. This novel, ingrained in our society and carried by powerful characters, won the Prix Goncourt 2020. A timeless category, flowers are always a good idea. We choose an original and trendy bouquet such as a bouquet of dried flowers in red and pink tones or we trust the expertise of Fleuriot fleurs, Geneva florist and their unique creations such as the cut flower arrangement: “My Baby Just Cares for Me”. A whole program …
The perfumes always have the coast, especially if they are personalized like the perfumes engraved Jo Malone or L’artisan Parfumeur. Side scent, the tendency is with the white flowers, raspberry, musk …

The outfit

The ideal: to be the same, but better. Queen of an evening, we choose a minimalist but sexy outfit, and a light beauty-look. We put on a long satin dress or a backless jumpsuit, and we complete with a strong cat-eye and a slightly pinkish mouth. Our advice for your ideal outfit? Rent it on the show room Girls Gown Bad or on www.girlsgownbad.com: Carven, Valentino, Paco Rabanne, we offer ourselves an accessible luxury for a tailor-made look.

So, happy Valentine’s Day to all the lovers! ❤️
