Trend at the top of the mountain

by Laëtitia Cadiou

Facing the cold weather in style? This is the challenge that every winter offers us when the resorts open their doors. Whether you’re a winter sportswoman or simply a lover of après ski, here are our tips for looking stylish in the mountains.

It’s been a while since the snow settled on our mountain tops, much to the delight of our favourite ski resorts. However, it is difficult to be trendy and elegant in a decathlon suit. Fortunately, this reality is far from being a fatality for fashion lovers. Whether you want to stroll through the village, spend the day on the slopes or simply party after skiing, here are our tips for a trendy season!

Very much in vogue this winter, the down jacket is as popular in the city as it is in the mountains. This iconic piece, omnipresent during the autumn-winter shows of the greatest designers, can be adopted whatever your morphology and will definitely refine your legs. In addition to its trendy aesthetic, the down jacket promises to keep you warm during your outings on the slopes, but not only! Indeed, if the traditional ski jacket is reserved for sports outings and mountain resorts, the down jacket can be worn just as well in everyday life. Our favourite is the model with the XXL collar from Montcler, which can be worn in town as well as on the slopes. This sublime royal blue piece guarantees a flawless comfort and will make you the queen of the après-ski.

For the bottom part of your outfit, we recommend a pair of skin-tight trousers with a spindle-shaped leg. This little nod to the 70s will go perfectly with your down jacket and will lengthen your figure. For a day on the slopes, or simply for a walk in the snow, this piece is easy to wear and promises both lightness and comfort. Our favourite is the tight-fitting model by Fusalp. The French brand offers trousers that are so well cut, you almost forget their sporty function!

The secret to ensuring a trendy look, even in the mountains, is to accessorise your outfits well. Don’t forget the sunglasses, the essential accessory for all fashionistas! Have you missed them since last summer? Good news! Holidays in the mountains are the perfect opportunity to bring out your best sunglasses. At NOW, we recommend that you choose an oversized or fancy model that will bring a touch of fun and dynamism to your outfit. Be sure to choose a high enough UV index as the sun’s reflection is stronger in the mountains (especially on the terraces!).

Finally, there is one last option for the more daring among you. We loved it in Belgian singer Angèle’s video and it made us laugh in Les Bronzé font du ski: the full body suit is back! Straight from the 80s, this fun and practical piece promises to keep you dry all day long. For a modern look, opt for a black or white jumpsuit like the elegant FENDI model. If on the other hand you want to go for a retro look, opt for a colourful piece that you can easily find in a second hand shop.
